Hospice affected my family in a very personal way. Our son, Gary, passed in 1995 from Leukemia. During his illness, he always wanted to come home, but unfortunately he never got to and his final days were spent at MD Anderson. It was from this tragedy that Standards Hospice was established.
Standards Hospice started in Cameron, TX in 2012. As we have grown throughout the years our philosophy has remained the same; family first, both yours and ours. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the years, as well as recognize all the blessings that we have received.

Russell graduated with a degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1996. He worked for 8 years for an accounting firm doing audits and reimbursement for multiple hospitals and other health care entities. From there, he started his own company working as a CFO for numerous hospitals before eventually becoming partners in Standards of Care in 2006. Russell has a total of 22 years of health care experience - mainly on the business end of the healthcare industry. His role with Standards is to over see the business functions while allowing his partners to handle the clinical side of things. Together, they make a wonderful team.

Tommy Standard, RN, BSN
Tommy graduated with a degree in animal science from Texas A&M University in 1978. He then furthered his education and graduated in 1991 from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Scholar of Nursing. Before entering the world of health care, Tommy was a rancher and in retail produce. In 2004, Tommy, along with his wife, Dorothy and daughter Michelle, founded Standards Home Health. Tommy has had 26 years of experience in Home Health and has been blessed to have been given the privilege of caring for so many people during that time. He truly operates this business on Christians morals and ethics.

Michelle Mowdy, RN
Michelle is passionate about healthcare and the changing paradigm in Post Acute care. She has devoted more than 18 years in the home care field, where she started her career as a registered nurse. She joined Standards Home Health and Hospice as an Administrator and progressed her career to COO. Michelle has been a strategic leader in several acquisitions and new business programs leading an approach that aims to raise the bar in providing value and innovative solutions. Michelle earned her bachelors degree in science nursing from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. Michelle is active in her community and healthcare projects.
REVENUE CYCLE MANAGER
Wade graduated from Texas Tech University in 2000 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Wade has worked for Innovative Healthcare Management since 2006 helping with audits, billing, and collections for rural hospitals. He started working with Standards Home Health and Hospice in 2011. Wade oversees and tracks monthly Home Health and Hospice billing and collections.
Starlyn Havens, RN
Starlyn graduated from Temple College with associate degree in science nursing in 1999. Since that time, Starlyn has worked in many different healthcare specialties including ICU, Renal Telemetry, CCU, Hospital step-down, home health and hospice. Starlyn first began working with the Standards family in 2008 in the Home Health division as a Patient-Care Coordinator. During the next 8 years, she had many different roles and titles. Starlyn left for a short time to explore another opportunity in hospice. She returned as Director of Nursing in Hospice in 2018 and is now acting as the Administrator and Supervising Nurse. She is very excited about the wonderful team and family at Standards.
